2022 is the year the Calypso Queen returns to the forefront. New songs, a new album and still the same desire to share universal messages and her vision of societies in the world and to advocate the party: Calypso Rose – FOREVER (26 AUGUST 2022).

Calypso Rose has never really left. Since her last album, Far From Home released in 2016 and certified platinum, the queen of Trinidad and Tobago has not stopped sharing her music around the world, to the rhythm of the two hundred concerts she has given in four years, including the Vieilles Charrues, We Love Green, lou still the Coachella festival and the Olympia in Paris . This love of an intergenerational audience, this respect of her peers, was notably translated into a Victoire de la Musique in 2017, until she was decorated with the order of Chevaliers des Arts et des Lettres on February 20, 2020.

To announce this new album FOREVER, Calypso Rose unveils Watina featuring the legend Carlos Santana and The Garifuna Collective. A true story of exchange between Caribbean artists is hidden behind this title. Watina was first and foremost a hit by Belizean singer Andy Palacio in 2007, who died shortly after its release. His producer Ivan Duran immediately thought of Rose to take up the torch, with all the weight of memories that this entails, thus continuing a collaboration of over 15 years. This version, recorded with The Garifuna Collective as in Palacio’s day, and sublimated by the riffs of guitarist Carlos Santana. The guitar hero covered Rose’s ‘Abatina’ on his previous album, thanking her by accompanying him on Watina. Santana considers Calypso Rose as a « goddess of Musica del Caribe […] who offers her heart and changes people lives and destiny ». This song is a tribute to the Gafiuna people, an ethnic group from the Caribbean who were killed by slavery and have since been dispersed along the coast of Central America.
